Dora Maxwell Awards

This award is presented to Credit Unions and Chapters across the Nation in recognition of their outstanding social responsibility. This year we were honored to be a part of two first place awards.

Avanta received the award for its hard work and dedication during the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The Midland Empire Chapter of Credit Unions also received  the award for an educational program in which we participated.

Employee Adopt-A-Family

In addition to volunteering their time, Avanta employees donate $2 out of every paycheck. At the end of the year, any surplus is generously donated to families in need. This year, It was decided to donate $500 in cash and presents to a local family who tragically lost their father. In addition, $500 was donated to the Laurel Hometown Troops, who will use the money to send packages to active-duty troops, and $750 was used to purchase gifts for 21 Family Services Children.

Holiday Floats

Every year, the employees of Avanta construct a Holiday Float and enter the local parades. Seeing the children express their excitement for the event is truly rewarding in itself and is what keeps this fun holiday tradition alive.

Toy Drive

Avanta held a toy drive for local families in need. Children who brought in a toy, were entered into a drawing for $100. All of the toys were donated to local charities.

Flakesgiving

Flakesgiving is an annual fundraising event organized by KCTR's The Breakfast Flakes. The event raises money to purchase Thanksgiving meals for those less fortunate. Avanta's employees were able to raise $1,900 in 3 days! Avanta FCU matched the employee's donations so that we could donate $2,400 and purchase 150 meals.

Relay for Life

The employees of Avanta actively support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Throughout the year we hold fundraising events to raise money for this great cause. We set out to raise 1 million pennies for Relay for Life. With the support of the community and staff members, we were able to raise $13,938.63. The campaign was capped off when we were presented with the award for "Top Fundraising Team" without a corporate match.

Wish Tutoring

Several Avanta employees are involved in the WISH Tutoring program. They visit a local school several times a week and read with children.

Annual Appreciation BBQ

Our Member Appreciation BBQ is held in honor of our members! This event truly brings everyone together and is great for building lasting relationships with the people that make everything possible.

Brass Magazine

Brass Magazine is sent to our members 22 to 25 years old. The quarterly publication offers a wealth of financial information to assist young members with their future financial plans.

Hurricane Relief

Avanta employees donated vacation time (which was turned into cash) and wrapped presents for donation so they could  adopt a credit union employee from Gulf Coast Community Federal Credit Union in Gulfport, MS.

Aviation and Technology Week

Avanta helped sponsor Laurel's Aviation and Technology Week. The weeklong event is a great resource for our communities youth and is a time-tested tradition in Laurel.

Boys & Girls Club

Avanta sponsored the 12th Annual Gordon Eldredge Dinner & Auction for the Boys & Girls Club. The Boys & Girls Club was able to set a new record raising over $130,000 for the children in our communities.
